Client: Reputed contractor in Southeast Asia, since its incorporation in 1989, the company has undertaken a wide spectrum of projects.
Project Type: Tender Presentation – 4D Simulation Video of a 5-Storey 230KV Substation
Project Scope: The client approached Canvascom to create a cost-effective 4D simulation and explainer video for a tender submission. Since the project had not yet been awarded, the budget was limited, preventing the use of more expensive software solutions like Synchro or 3Ds Max. The challenge was to deliver a high-quality 4D simulation while adhering to the client’s budgetary constraints.
Challenges: The primary challenge was to produce a high-quality video for a tender presentation within a limited budget. The client requested a 4D simulation video, but using expensive tools such as Synchro or 3Ds Max was not feasible due to budget constraints. Additionally, the team needed to find a way to create both the 4D phasing animation and an engaging explainer video without relying on these high-end software tools.
Solutions Provided: Canvascom employed a combination of accessible and cost-effective software to meet the client’s requirements without compromising on quality. The workflow involved the following tools:
Revit was used for the 3D modeling.
Navisworks was utilized to integrate the 4D timeliner information, visible as text on the top left of the video.
Twinmotion was leveraged for the 4D phasing animation and to add decorative objects like human figures, cranes, and other visual enhancements.
3Ds Max was used minimally, only for the explainer part of the video.
OpenShot served as the video editing and compilation tool, combining the different video elements.
FreeCam handled the screen capture, while PicPick was used for image capture and editing.
Results/Outcomes: Using this innovative and cost-effective approach, Canvascom successfully delivered a high-quality cost effective 4D simulation video that the client admired. The video met the client’s expectations for visual quality while staying within the budget constraints, proving that an effective tender presentation could be achieved without the need for high-end, costly software. The combination of tools allowed the team to produce the video in a shorter time frame and at a fraction of the cost compared to using Synchro or 3Ds Max exclusively.
Key Features:
Technology Used: Revit, Navisworks, Twinmotion, 3Ds Max, OpenShot, FreeCam, PicPick.
Budget Efficiency: The solution was significantly less costly compared to Synchro or full 3Ds Max video production.
Time Efficiency: Despite using a variety of tools, the process was more time-efficient than high-end alternatives.
Client Feedback:
"Canvascom produced high quality work within a very short time frame and met our expectations. They were extremely accommodating in changes required for the project and paid attention to the details as well."
